About
About Our SchoolElverado Intermediate School is home to the third, fourth, and fifth grade Falcons of Elverado CUSD 196.
Our Mission
What We Stand For
Elverado’s mission is to help students maximize life skills in a caring, connected community.
We partner with families every step of the way so our Falcons grow into confident readers, curious learners, and kind classmates who know that school is a safe and welcoming place.
Our School
A Place for Every Falcon to Grow
Elverado Intermediate School is located at 190 Harrison Street in Vergennes, Illinois, and serves students in third, fourth, and fifth grade. Students may arrive and eat breakfast beginning at 7:30 a.m., and classes run from 8:10 a.m. to 2:50 p.m. (1:50 p.m. on Mondays).
Every student can start the day with a free breakfast, and lunch is free for all students too. For safety, our building stays locked during the school day and visitors buzz in at the main door. Bus transportation is available for students who live 1.5 miles or more from school.
Our Vision
Building a Strong Foundation
In third grade, students make the shift from learning to read to reading to learn. They build reading fluency and comprehension, master multiplication and division facts, and grow as writers.
Fourth graders take on longer texts and multi-step problems, working with fractions and larger numbers and completing research and writing projects that build independence.
In fifth grade, students strengthen the reading, writing, and math skills they will need at Elverado Junior High and take on more responsibility as the leaders of our school. Our Title 1 teacher, resource teacher, social worker, and instructional aides work alongside classroom teachers so every student gets the support they need.
